New - SPIB eLearning Short Courses

These new short courses are intended for anyone seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding of how 2” dimension lumber is graded. Managers, supervisors, planer and dry kiln operators, corporate sales and support staff at companies producing, or pressure treating dimension lumber, are ideal students for these short courses. Architects, structural engineers, builders and those involved in wholesale distribution or retail sales of dimension lumber will all benefit from these courses. These Short Courses contain all the same lesson content as the original versions, however, the grading rules memorization drills and the simulated video knot tests and reviews have been removed. These short courses contain 6 to 8 hours of lesson and quiz content and must be completed within 60 days of your initial login.

NOTE: These Short Courses ARE NOT INTENDED FOR LINE GRADERS OR QC TECHNICIANS who must be able to make quick accurate decisions on the line or in the shed when inspecting lumber. If you must be able to demonstrate both competency and proficiency grading knots and accurately applying all the grading rules in a production or inspection environment, then the original versions of these courses are required for you. The original courses contain 6 to 8 hours of lesson and quiz content and 5 to 10 hours of grading rules memorization drills and simulated video knot tests and reviews.
