Planer Operator Courses

This SPIB Planer Course, held at the Hilton, Pensacola Beach, FL, is a Powerpoint presentation taught by Harry Meadows. Harry is a former District Supervisor for SPIB and is well respected for his in-depth knowledge with planing equipment. The course covers all aspects of efficient alignment and operation of all types of planers. Planer Course - Red Oak, VA
This SPIB Planer Course is held at Morgan Lumber Company in Red Oak, Virginia. Hendal Price is the instructor for this course. Hendal, a former SPIB District Supervisor uses his vast experience to teach by demonstrating on the machine and in the classroom. The course covers both conventional cast steel framed machines, and more modern fabricated steel, all electric driven machines. Topics include proper alignment and set up for various items, mill flow, efficiency rates, proper feeding, and maintenance requirements. The specific designs and set up of different brands of machines will be discussed. This course is designed to benefit new operators, experienced operators, maintenance personnel, quality control personnel, mill supervisors, and even management who want to better understand planer mill equipment, efficiency and flow in the mill, and how to evaluate machine defects and causes.
